I become wiser from all my teachers (Psalms 119:99) The Adult Education program at Suburban Torah provides numerous pathways for our adult members and members of the community to continue their spiritual and intellectual growth. Our programming consists of weekly classes and shiurim, study groups, a Shabbat scholars-in-residence program and guest speakers for special events during the year. Rabbi Feuerstein offers men and women opportunities to attend a weekly shiur in Tanakh, as well as a midday Tele-shiur that provides insights into the weekly Torah portion. Throughout the year, the Rabbi’s Shabbat afternoon shiur covers in-depth studies in Chumash, Pirkei Avot and the Chagim. The women’s study group meets, in an informal setting, on Shabbat afternoons to discuss topics ranging from Tanakh to history. The women’s Tehillim group meets Tuesday mornings and a community Tehillim group convenes on Tuesday evenings in the synagogue. In addition, smaller learning groups meet weekday evenings, as well as a kitzur shulchan aruch learning group that meets Wednesday morning, prior to Shacharit. For Shavuot, our Tikkun Leil Shavuot program provides all-night learning for adults and teens and our Shavuot siyum, a community Seudah, is the culmination of a synagogue-wide effort to learn and complete a tractate of Mishnah. Throughout the year, SSTC hosts scholars-in-residence to give lectures on a variety of topics including spirituality, prayer and Israel, as well as our Yom HaShoah program and lecture, where survivors and righteous gentiles have captivated our community with their stories. We encourage you to come and participate. Visit one of our many regular classes… or maybe start one of your own. |
